What are you trying to accomplish?

When you begin planning your pots, remember to think big, think garden: use a variety of herbs, flowers, perennials, bulbs and groundcovers.  While you are combining plants, choose plants that are compatible.  Shade lovers or full sun?  Texture and colors must work well together.  Doing a little homework on the front end will ensure that you have great looking, everblooming containers to enjoy throughout the seasons.

-Containers are important ? think size and style.  What are you trying to accomplish? Are you accenting a door, adding color to an evergreen hedge in the garden, grouping for interest around the patio? Think about investing in a good, solid pot with a classic design.  Practical concerns are important: durability, drainage, porosity and weight.

-Design is important ? do you want bold, hot colors (reds, oranges, yellows) or are you going for a more subtle, cool look (grays, blues, light pinks, soft lavenders).  Consider mixing textures: light, airy ferns with stark upright grasses, drooping prostate rosemary with tall, upright plastic hose quick connector salvias.

Arrange them artfully, and mix the textures and colors boldly.  You will be generously rewarded with an array of colors, textures and scents.Continue to keep the pots clean and tidy and blooming by deadheading and trimming.  A light fertilization when watering will keep them happy.

Water Gardening is the fastest growing segment

Water Gardening is the fastest growing segment of the horticultural world and over twenty five million  Americans now enjoy the pleasures of splashing water, swimming fish and  Agricultural Irrigation Sprinkler Nozzles Manufacturers the myriad wonderful water plants. According to Lilypons, that number is increasing at the rate of  15 to 25 percent each year. And no wonder. There is just nothing like a small pool with a trickling stream, colorful fish, margin grasses and water lilies. Birds come down to bath and in fact, you can create an entire little eغير مجاز مي باشدystem - a water world with a host of water related flora and fauna. The sound of water gurgling over rocks is the music my wife and I listen to each evening of patio dining throughout the spring and summer and well into fall.

I design them into many of my clients gardens and no one has yet regretted it. Quite the contrary. Talk to anyone who has a water garden. They sound like converts to another way of life. So happy are water gardeners with the decision they've made, we're going to show you how to build your own. If you want a water garden but don't want or haven't the time to build your own, contact us at landscape-design-garden-plans. We'll be delighted to design and build you a water garden or we'll help find someone in your area.Water garden construction is, in principle anyway, easy. It is simply a matter of digging a hole, dropping in an underliner, a liner and a re circulating pump and filling with water. Put in a few plants, fish, snails and such and its done. You have a functional water garden.

How attractive it is, The hole should be of a pleasing shape, geometric for a formal garden, natural for an informal. Depth is not terribly critical for over wintering fish because of the effective pond heaters which can be purchased. (As long as the water doesn't freeze all the way down, and poisonous gasses can escape, the fish will be fine all winter.)  But a pond that is three feet or more in any direction looks best with a depth of at least 18 inches. For larger ponds, some portion, especially in cold areas, should be 3 or 4' deep. (My water garden is about 6 ft. on the long side and over two feet in depth at the deepest part. Vary the depth. A shallow section where the fish are easily visible and where you can feed them and watch them romping around is a pleasant feature.

Also, when digging the hole, build shelves into the sides. These are useful for placing margin plants and for hiding the liner  and pump elements with  river stones. Two shelves is ideal but one will work, especially on a small pool.

It is critical that the top edge of the hole be level all around. To check this, take a long, straight board and lay it across the pool with a level on it, or use a string with a line-level. Where it is low, build up with soil or lower where it is high. Getting this right will make it possible to fill the pool to the top with no portion of liner showing.

When  the hole is dug, clean it of any protruding roots and large rocks, then place in the underliner. This can be an old carpet, a carpet liner or  liner protection fabric, purchased from the suppliers. Make it as smooth and neat inside as possible, folding the material into pleats. Work from the inside to the outside, starting at one place and working around the sides in one direction. Leave a little extra over the edges and cut away the rest.

Next comes the liner. There are several material choices for the liner, my preference generally being 45 mil EPDM Pond Liner material. This is flexible, relatively easy to work with and is strong. 30 mil Butyl rubber Pond Liner is also good and is a little easier to work with. Lay the liner in as you did the underliner, working out the wrinkles, and folding over the excess. Leave about a ft. extra over the edge and trim away the rest. (A linoleum knife, if you can find one, works well.

Once the liner is in place, mark the water level, fill it and let it sit several hours. There should be no drop in water level. If there is, go all along the sides and look for a low spot. Most likely that is where it is loosing water. Holes are not common and should not occur if you have been reasonably careful.

Being possessed of abundant wisdom you no doubt acquired all the materials you would need for this project before beginning. Thus, you now find yourself surrounded by a ton of river rock and perhaps field stone of all sizes and shapes.  River stone is rounded by the effect of water and looks right in water. Field stone is also a natural  stone, weathered and smoothed and looks good around the outside of the pond.

You also have your pump near by. (The size of the pump you will need is a factor of the gallon capacity of the pond. Your supplier will tell you how to determine that and help you to select the right size.) (Or go to landscape-design-garden-plans).

Recirculating pumps draw water in through a filter and pump it back out, usually through  plastic tubing which runs from the pump to  outside the pond, usually  to some sort of waterfall. From there it runs back into the pond, aerating the water and providing visual and audio pleasure. (Fish love this. You'll often find them sporting in the water as it pours into the pond.)  The filter can either be connected to the pump or you can use an external filter for easy cleaning.

Place the pump in the deepest portion of the pond, on the opposite end from where the water returns to the pond. Hopefully that will also be somewhere you can easily get at it. Run both the electric cord and the plastic return hose up the sides of the pond. Before you cut the hose, which carries the water from the pump to the waterfall, make sure it is in place with enough extra hose with the pump for easy lifting for cleaning. Since you don't want to see the pump, place rocks on both sides of it, both just a little taller than the pump, and lay a rock over the top. Use the rest of your river stone and the field stone to lay into the sides and along the top for a natural look. Sand and or small rounded gravel can be poured over the bottom.

Greenhouses are a great addition to anyone's garden

Greenhouses are a great addition to anyone's garden.  They come in all different sizes and you can nestle them right where you want them and with smaller versions of greenhouses you can move them quite easily.  That said, as great as they look and of course smell, there should be some type of manual to buy when you are first setting up shop in China Garden Magic Seeders Manufacturers there. There are many things no one bothers to tell you and if you don't know, you don't ask.  Here are five things I learned by plodding along on my own:

1.Never assume that your seeds are not growing and then buy plants instead.  I started growing tomato seeds, in the proper seed tray, and within a month nothing had happened.  However, I used pretty expensive potting soil and didn't want to waste it so I dumped it on the floor of the greenhouse and turned it in. Then, I planted 6 tomato plants into the ground and had homemade salsa recipes salivating in my head.  A month later I had well over 30 tomato plants tumbling over each other.  The worst part was that I didn't label the plants and wasn't sure which ones to thin out.  I thinned and ended up with the orange pixie variety mostly and they were about the size of a mutant cherry tomato.

2.Never assume that just because your garden is now ?indoors? that you won't get an insect infestation.  If you are afraid of insects, greenhouse gardening is not much better than being out in nature. After you plant your garden, whether in grow bags, on tables or directly in the ground, look up.  There he is?Sammy the Slug peering down on you with a slight smirk on his face.  If you are allergic to bee stings, every year at least one gets in your greenhouse and seems to twoddle around in there for what seems like an eternity.

3.Never think you are a pack mule and can water your plants enough by using a gardening can or bucket.  You can't!  With the heat and the sun shining through the glass the plants need more water than the outside plants.  You need a mister, some type of irrigation system, ideally, and at bare minimum a hose.  This means you'll require a water source.  Think about it when you are putting the greenhouse in place.  If you're water source is close to the house you must put the greenhouse within reach.  Or, you can be like me? carry about 20 buckets of water out each night and only water ? of the plants before you give up.  (That said, the cursing involved in the greenhouse creates more carbon dioxide and makes plants grow better).

4.Always read or know the size to which your plants grow.  Picture this?novice to gardening and new, proud-owner of a large greenhouse.  ?Oooh, what can I grow,? immediately pops into ones head.  She plants dill, (accidentally) 30 tomato plants, eggplant and zucchini among other things.  Everyday the novice goes out to water her plants and gets very excited.  Until slowly, the greenery is a foot tall, then 2 feet tall then, well, then these plants are insanely out of control.  Have you ever seen the size of a zucchini plant's leaves'they are twice the size as your head!  Zucchini sucks the life out of the plants planted underneath it and surrounding it.  So, as for the garlic cloves planted'she was forced to make salsa sans garlic.  On another note, the dill she planted grew to be at least 15 feet tall.  A word to the wise, find out how big the stuff gets and plan accordingly.

5.Never buy a greenhouse if you have no one to look after it while you are on your holidays.  Greenhouse plants require a lot of work because generally the soil dry-out quicker.  Therefore you must water everyday at least once.  Irrigation systems can help with this, but it is still advisable to have someone check it regularly to ensure it works.  I went on holidays for 2 weeks and yes I had a friend looking after the glassy greatness, but the following things happened:

There are many other kafuffles and calamities associated with this divine garden structure.  There are many, many good things too.  It is advisable to ask your friends, garden centers and online resources for advice before installing a  greenhouse and planting plants inside.  Now, that I have had my greenhouse for five years, I have trial and errored myself to plant-death and have a general idea about what is correct.  After all, gardening is 90% trial and error and 10% knowledge.

If placing a container on a balcony or free standing

Today it is becoming increasingly popular to grow herbs either for decoration or for cooking.  Herbs can be grown in the garden or in a container.  Container planting comes into its own agricultural irrigation sprinkler nozzles if there is lack of garden space, to ensure the survival and confine a plant or just for easy access.

Container planting enables you to position herbs where they can delight the sense of smell, prolong their growing season and create a visually appealing environment that is a constant source of interest.Herbs do thrive more vigorously in the ground but with a certain amount of care and common sense they can be grown in pots either outside or indoors.

If placing a container on a balcony or free standing structure be sure to make sure that it is sturdy enough to support the weighty combination of soil and water.Herbs in a group of pots can provide a focal point and look more pleasing to the eye than one lonely specimen.  They also seem to enjoy each other's company and benefit from the microclimate that grouping creates.  By changing the position of the pots seasonal gaps can be filled or the appearance of the garden can be changed.

Herbs in pots are an excellent way to create different color schemes in large or small areas.  For a silver or moonlight garden, plant artemisias, santolinas and curry plants.  To create a golden garden, use lemon thyme, variegated lemon balm, calendula, lady's bedstraw, nasturtiums and variegated غير مجاز مي باشدe.  For a blue garden choose hyssop, borage, catmint, rosemary and غير مجاز مي باشدe.

The space needed by particular species will dictate how many plants can be put in a planter.  A container 1 meter long can hold four or five low-growing herbs that will benefit from being kept well trimmed, such as غير مجاز مي باشدe, thyme, marjoram and salad burnet.  A tub or barrel filled with culinary herbs; such as rosemary, chives, غير مجاز مي باشدe, mint (in its own container), or lemon balm make a delightful addition to a barbecue area.

These plants, though, are dependant on care and are more vulnerable than plants in open ground. If general guidelines are followed you can grow herbs in a container quite successfully.First of all always start with a clean container and make sure that the plants will have good drainage.  Make sure that the soil is friable and porous.  It is best not to use ordinary garden soil but use a good commercial potting mix.

It is important to ensure that the container size and the plants are compatible.  Small plants flounder in large pots and large plants will be stifled in a small pot.Check indoor herbs regularly to see if they need watering.  They should never be allowed to become bone dry.  For instance rosemary never fully recovers if left to dry out completely.  By contrast, though, غير مجاز مي باشدe will collapse if watered too frequently.

To aid vigorous growth keep the pot weed free, remove deadheads and trim the leaves back.Herbs should be fed through their leaves or the soil every two weeks during the growing season, easing off as their growth rate slows. If a herb looks sorry for itself, check if it needs water, or feeding and whether it is standing in a draught or not receiving the correct amount of light.
